1. What UPI Tracker is, and is not
UPI Tracker is a personal finance utility that helps you track and categorize expenses, view your UPI auto-debit mandates, and set per-category budgets. We extract data from bank SMS messages and from receipts you choose to scan. We process this data on your device by default.
UPI Tracker is not a bank, a payment institution, a financial advisor, or a lender. We do not move money on your behalf, we do not have access to your bank credentials, and we never see your account balance. We are not authorised by the Reserve Bank of India and are not required to be — we are a read-only expense tool.
2. Eligibility & account
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
Some features require a UPI Tracker account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and your device's lock secure. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. License to use the app
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, limited license to install and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, on devices you own or control.
4. Device permissions you grant
UPI Tracker may ask for the following Android / iOS permissions:
- SMS read — to detect bank UPI debit messages and parse them into expenses. We do not send SMS, and we do not transmit your inbox.
- Camera — for the receipt-scan feature.
- Photos / Files — to let you pick a receipt image from your gallery.
- Notifications — to alert you about budget thresholds, upcoming mandates, and large debits.
- Biometric authentication — to unlock the app with Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint.
You can revoke any permission at any time from your device settings. Some features will stop working without their corresponding permission.
5. Your data and your content
All transactions, narrations, categories, rules, and budgets you create or import remain your data. They are stored only on your device. UPI Tracker does not operate any cloud backup or sync service — nothing is uploaded to us.
You can export everything to CSV or JSON, or permanently delete your data, from Profile → Privacy & Security. If you uninstall the app, the data is gone. We strongly recommend exporting periodically and storing the export somewhere you control.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service, except as permitted by law.
- Use the Service to process data that does not belong to you, or in violation of any law.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially distribute the Service or its outputs.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access or stress the Service.
- Attempt to circumvent the on-device privacy boundaries of the Service.
7. Third-party services
The Service may integrate with third-party platforms — for example, mobile operating systems, app stores, or, if enabled, anonymous crash-reporting providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for their conduct.
Merchant names, logos, and trademarks appearing in the Service (e.g. Netflix, Zomato, Uber) are the property of their respective owners. UPI Tracker is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by these brands.
8. Subscriptions, fees, refunds
UPI Tracker is a paid app offered at a low, honest price. Pricing is shown clearly in the App Store and Google Play before you purchase or subscribe. We may offer a limited free trial at our discretion. Subscriptions and one-time purchases are billed through the App Store or Google Play and are subject to their refund policies, as we do not process payments directly.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including all software, design, text, graphics, and the UPI Tracker name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by Indian and international intellectual property laws. We grant you only the license described in Section 3; nothing else is implied.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
UPI Tracker categorizes expenses automatically. Categorization may be wrong. Auto-debit reminders may be missed if SMS permissions are revoked or if your bank's SMS format changes. We strongly recommend you verify financial decisions against your bank statement or the original source.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) ₹1,000. In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, goodwill, or data.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if continuing to provide the Service to you becomes commercially impracticable, or if required by law. Termination does not affect rights and obligations that by their nature should survive.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app and via email if you have provided one. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing law & jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
